Ibn Taymiyyah said:
From the things that prevents one from making Tawbah (repentence) is; paying little concern to the sins one commits, and belittling the sins one falls into; (i.e.) Thinking one does not have to make Repentance from them and considering them carrying a light punishment.

Ibn Taymiyyah is one of the great scholars of Islam, and in this short translation oh his work we see how his knowledge was put to use to help us become Muslims who are repentant to Allah.
